Flea and the Honora Band
Flea at Webster Hall, NYC - May 12, 2026
I saw Flea announce a show at Webster Hall, NYC back in January and wasn’t sure if it was something I’d be interested in, especially after it sold out and resale ticket prices were in the $300 range. Surely the prices would come down closer to the show. They did, not astronomically, but it was enough for me to buy a ticket and take the ride over to WH to check it out. I listened to the album with my ear buds while waiting in the crowd for about 45 min. Doors were at 7PM and by the time I parked for free I might add, and got in the venue it was around 7:30. The diehards already were at the barricade but I did manage to get a good spot to the left about 3 rows from the front.

My main mission was to grab photos of Flea. It was difficult to get a good angle where I was mostly because of 3 objects in my sight path. Flea had a bass stand, a microphone, and a delay pedal on a stand for his trumpet, so it was challenging to get a shot with him in between those. I found peace in the balance of enjoying the music and taking photos, I didn’t slide my way in between people I just used what I had. Having only listened to the album once I was indeed very impressed with the band and talent on that stage. Funk, punk, and jazz poured through the PA system, people loved it man. Seeing Flea with a trumpet didn’t look odd at all, it’s as if he’s been doing this his whole life. Obviously, he is known for playing that bass, and he did. To listen to a legend, play like that in person was irregular, my vocabulary is not strong enough to describe the notes played by that man. Flea ripped that fret board up but it was so smooth, my bass face came out as the phrases progressed.
I’m not sure how I didn’t expect it to be great, I realized it right after I bought the ticket though. At one point walking to the venue I thought, “I’m seeing Flea play bass tonight, that’s crazy!” and it absolutely was, to be maybe 20 feet from him going nuts was very real. He is one of the best to ever do it and humble enough to give credit to all that came before.
